- After graduating from High School, Sven received a full-scholarship offer from Birmingham-Southern College (BSC) in Alabama (NCAA Division I), which he took.
- In 2004, he left BSC to return to Germany where he played in fourth league for 1 1/2 years.
- Wanting to further his education, he returned to the United States in 2005, when he received a full-scholarship offer from Azusa Pacific University (NAIA).
- During his three years at Azusa Pacific University he finished as National Runner-Up in 2005, and 2006, and led his team to the first National Championship in school history in 2007 as a team captain.
